Vegas shooting 5 dead, 13-year-old hospitalized

Investigation in Process:

The North Las Vegas Police Department said the suspected shooter, 47-year-old Eric Adams, committed suicide Tuesday morning while being confronted by officers in a neighborhood. Authorities had been looking for him since Monday night’s shootings in separate apartment buildings.

Attempts to reach Adams’ relatives for comment were not immediately successful. Police said they discovered two women dead while investigating allegations of a gunshot late Monday at an apartment in North Las Vegas. The department reported that one was in her early 40s, and the other was in her late 50s. While cops were investigating, the agency claimed they discovered that an adolescent girl had been brought to the hospital with critical gunshot wounds and that there could be more victims at a neighboring apartment.

Officers discovered the deaths of two women in their mid-twenties and a man in his early twenties. Police confirmed that all five of the victims had been shot. They were not immediately identified. The finding prompted an overnight search for Adams, whom authorities described as “armed and dangerous.” Police discovered shortly after 10 a.m. On Tuesday the suspect was observed visiting a North Las Vegas company.

What do the Officials say?

As authorities approached, they noticed the man with a pistol sprinting into the backyard of a nearby residence. According to the department, officers pursued the suspect, but he refused to drop his firearm and committed suicide. Police have not revealed a reason for the shootings, which they called a “isolated incident.” A police department representative did not return phone calls or emails seeking additional information on Tuesday. North Las Vegas police said when officers arrived, they discovered Adams armed with a weapon before jumping into the backyard of a home on Dwayne Stedman Avenue near MLK Boulevard and Balzar Avenue. Officers gave Adams verbal demands to drop his handgun, but he disobeyed them and committed suicide, officials said.

Anyone with information on the murders was asked to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit crimestoppersofnv.com.
